Terms of Use
These terms apply to the Dearkept app for iPhone and to this website. By installing or using either, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to hide anything.
The app and Apple
Dearkept is distributed through the App Store. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and where it gives you rights or Apple obligations, those stand. Apple is not responsible for the app or for support; that is us, at [email protected].
Your licence
You may install and use Dearkept on iPhones you own or control, for your own use, under the App Store rules. You may not copy, modify, sell or redistribute the app, or attempt to circumvent its encryption or purchase checks. The app, its design and its name are ours.
Your photos are yours
Everything you add to Dearkept remains yours. We claim no rights over it, we cannot see it, and the app lets you export it at any time, on every plan.
What the app does, and the risk you take
Dearkept encrypts photos on your iPhone with a key derived from your Vault Code. Neither the Vault Code nor the 12 recovery words are known to us, and they cannot be reset. If you lose the Vault Code and have not saved your recovery words, or you delete the app without a backup, your photos cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Vault Health tells you where you stand; keeping your words saved and making backups is your responsibility. Dearkept never changes or deletes your originals in the Photos app.
Free use and Dearkept Pro
Your first 100 photos, counting Library, Trash and photos waiting for attention, are free. Dearkept Pro removes that limit and is sold as an auto-renewing subscription: USD 19.99 a year, with 7 days free on the annual plan, or USD 3.99 a month, shown in your own currency in the app.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends; the renewal is charged in those 24 hours. If you are on the free trial, turn renewal off at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the first charge. Manage or cancel in the iPhone Settings app, under your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not refund the period you are in; refunds are handled by Apple. Photos added before the limit stay readable, exportable and in every backup whether or not you subscribe. Export, backup and restore are never limited by your plan.
The website
dearkept.com describes the app. We try to keep it accurate; prices are shown in USD and may differ in your currency. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. See the Privacy Policy.
No warranty, and limits on liability
Dearkept is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be free of faults, and we cannot recover a library whose Vault Code and recovery words are lost. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of photos, data or profits arising from your use of the app or the website, including loss caused by a lost Vault Code, lost recovery words, a missing backup, or deleting the app. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be published here with a new date at the top. Changes that affect a subscription you already hold will not take away what you paid for.
