Privacy Policy
The short version: Dearkept does not collect personal information. The app has no account, no analytics and no networking code. Your photos, your Vault Code and your recovery words stay on your iPhone unless you choose to move them somewhere.
Who we are
Dearkept is an iPhone app and this website, dearkept.com. For any personal information handled through the website or by email, the controller is Dearkept. Contact us at [email protected].
The app
No collection. Dearkept does not collect, store or send any personal information about you. There is no sign-up, no email address, no password and no identifier of ours. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no networking code, so it never talks to a server of ours and no data about your use of the app reaches us.
Your photos. Photos you add are encrypted on your iPhone before they appear in your library, then read back and compared with the original before Dearkept calls them verified. Your originals in the Photos app are never deleted or changed. The encrypted library lives inside the app on your iPhone.
Your Vault Code and recovery words. The 8-digit Vault Code and the 12 recovery words are created on your iPhone and are never sent anywhere by Dearkept. We cannot see them, recover them or reset them. If you lose the Vault Code and have not saved your recovery words, your photos stay encrypted and nobody can open them, including us.
Backups and exports. A backup is written only when you ask for one, to a folder you choose in the Files app. If you choose an iCloud Drive folder, iOS moves that file to iCloud because you asked it to, under Apple's terms and Apple's privacy policy. The same applies when you export photos to Files or back to Photos, or share your recovery words through the share sheet. Dearkept has no part in that transfer beyond writing the file.
Permissions. Dearkept asks for access to your photo library only to copy the photos you pick. It does not read your location from photos, your contacts or anything else.
Purchases
Dearkept Pro is bought through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment and your Apple Account details; we never receive your card details or your Apple Account information. The app checks your subscription status with Apple's StoreKit on the device. Apple's privacy policy covers that processing. Your first 100 photos are free without any purchase.
This website
No cookies, no analytics. dearkept.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. If that ever changes, this page will say so first and any consent the law requires will be asked for before anything is switched on.
Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any hosting provider, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, the pages requested and timestamps to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We use that information, when we look at it at all, only to keep the site working and secure.
Fonts and images are served from dearkept.com itself, not from a third-party service.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include. We use it to reply and to fix what you report. Messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with them, then deleted. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not share your message with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Children
Dearkept does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, tell us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, or to receive a copy. Because the app collects nothing, in practice this applies only to email you have sent us. Write to [email protected] and we will respond. If you are in the UK or the European Union and are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date at the top. The app's behaviour described above, no account, no analytics, no networking code, is part of the product's design and any change to it would come with a new app version and a new policy.
